United by the crisis

If there is something drawing the world together nowadays it is the world wide economic crisis.

But, do most of us actually understand what’s bsehind this?

Jonathan  Jarvis has explained today’s crisis in the best way posible. With an elegand and comprehensive animation:

Sometimes graphic enhancers can really make a message all the clearer.

Did you already know what the crisis was all about?

Oh' bah' mah' self

English is a funny language indeed. As a Mexican, I found it rather strange to learn a language in which the letters had such varied pronunciations depending on the word’s origin.

There’s an animation that’s been seen a lot lately, Obama’s Elf, that I think makes my point really clear:

Really, it’s just to funny for words… Really interesting to witness how a phrase like “All by myself” can become something so funny as “Obama’s elf” with just a weird pronunciation.

This phrase wouldn’t have such an impact if not for the animation acompaning it, of course, This short animation has given me a good laugh indeed.

Short Animation Film (Oscar-Nominated)

Being an animation student, I find it really strage not to have an animation category on my blog. This post is the official opening of said category, welcome!

It is always interesting to watch the academy awards, Seeing how the masters of the audio visual entertainment are praised for their efforts and, for those of us with such aspirations, a glance at what expects us at the end of the rainbow.

But let’s see what we’re all here to see, these are the nomenees for best Short Animation Film:

La Maison En Petits Cubes

Lavatory – Lovestory

Oktapodi

Presto

This way up

I personally can’t get myself to choose one as my favourite. All of them have theire unique charm and I’m really looking forward to get to know which one will be crowned the best by the academy.

Which one do you like best?

Cute, Huggable and Digital

Most young people are terrified of the idea of having a baby. And why blame them? in this time an age it is quite a difficulf task to support your child’s needs. Nontheless, it is always fun to think how your kid would look like.

Volkswagen has uploaded an interesting aplication called Routan Baby Maker, as part of their campaign for the Routan with which you can have a sneak peek at how your baby could look like.

Digital Baby

You can see the result I got (above). I just wanna hug that baby!

I really do think this is a great advertisement campaign for a family car, not tom mention the whole campaingn is quite inenious.

Link your results here! I’m inlove with my virtual baby!

Kindle 2, This might be Better than Books

I really didn’t hear much about Kindle (an e-book reader) until Amazon announced the second version of the product. Honestly,The old design made me not want to even investigate about it.

Kindle 2

This new design, however, did get my attention inmediatly; so I investigated a little:

This little device, being only 8″ x 5.3″ and  0.36″thick, can carry up to 1500 books! in it’s 2gb internal memory; it’s battery will work up to 4 days,  it is capable or reading the books to you, and even store audio books; The E-Ink display is said to be readable even on sunny days and, most impresively, it’s wireless capabilities allow it (via 3G technology) to have access to amazon’s e-book store anywhere in the US; It doesn’t even need to ever be pluged to a computer!

(You can see the whole list of features at Amazon.com.)

I personally fell inlove with this device and can’t wait for Feb/24 to be able to get one of this babies!

If you enjoy reading as much as I do, I’m pretty sure you’ll consider getting one yourself, if you don’t already have one.

I guess it is true what they say: “You can’t judge an e-book reader by it’s cover” But this nre cover sure makes it all the more attractive!

Machinarium: I just can't wait!

Machinarium is an independent video game project by Amanita Design.

There’s been a lot of expectation around this game for a while, and short ago they released a video demo.

Machinarium Preview 02 from Amanita Design on Vimeo.

I really can’t wait to see the result; so far it looks as thought it’ll be one great game. The art is beautiful and the game play seems fairly good.

what do you think? Would you like to play it when it’s done?
