Zombie… Sorry… Swine Flu Outbreak in Mexico

Me, running from the flu zombies!
Me, running from the flu zombies!

I tend to be a little paranoiac when it comes to illness… With the current outbreak (while not jet enough to call it an epidemic) of Swine Flu in Mexico, I’m on the edge of my nerve.

Just yesterday school activity was canceled in Mexico City and, today, public government activities have been also canceled.

One of the most important advice given these days in Mexico, by news networks and pamphlets, is not to shake hands. Call me crazy but, if giving hand shakes is deemed risky, this must be one hell of a pandemic!

While it’s been reported there have been only 20 death out of the more than 1000 cases, I still can’t stop thinking zombies will crawl up my window while I’m asleep to cough over me and shake my hand!

I’m certainly not leaving home without a shotgun!

Do you recall the Picture Diaries from Japan?

Well, I’ve been meaning to do somehting like that for a while. A little picture followed by a description… much like a one-panel web comic, mind you.

For today’s entry… me, having the idea of doing this and the world reacting with confussion and embarasment… So yeah, there you are. I’ll try to make this updates more interesting… or I may not, you never know, I’m a busy guy working at FABLE Story Studios.

Then again… I could use the tablet practice.

Some Style for my XP Desktop, Please?

I really never leave my desktop the way it is when I get a computer. I always look for ways to tweak, improve and stylize it.

This is the current state of the desktop of my Laptop.

Cute, Huggable and Digital

Most young people are terrified of the idea of having a baby. And why blame them? in this time an age it is quite a difficulf task to support your child’s needs. Nontheless, it is always fun to think how your kid would look like.

Volkswagen has uploaded an interesting aplication called Routan Baby Maker, as part of their campaign for the Routan with which you can have a sneak peek at how your baby could look like.

Digital Baby

You can see the result I got (above). I just wanna hug that baby!

I really do think this is a great advertisement campaign for a family car, not tom mention the whole campaingn is quite inenious.

Link your results here! I’m inlove with my virtual baby!

Private Sector 1 – Police 0

First of all, Sorry for the lack of posts these last weeks, I’ve been having a lot of things to do, but next week I’ll be free and able to start attending this blog again.

Now:

Yesterday my family went through a really weird and stupid situation. Some employees from a furniture selling company came to deliver a item we had purchased a few days ago. Upon their depart, we all noticed my brother’s IPhone  had been stolen.

Now, My brother set out to call the company while I got in charge of calling for the police.

At first the company didn’t seem too eager to cooperate.  I called the police and after answering a few of their questions they said a patrol car would be here in no time.

Let it be said, for it is important, that I live in Guadalajara Mexico. A really beautiful city way northwest from Mexico City.

After a few more calls to the company, and having heard from several employees. We were communicated to the legal department and were told to hold for them to make a little investigation on the case.

Fortyfive minutes had passed and no police officer had shown. The company, however, called claiming to have retrived the mobile and having disposed of the thief’s services. They also offered all information and help for us to press charges against him.

I was impressed, I couldn’t believe we got more help from a private organization, who’s interests and pusposes are not set into helping people; And had no response from a goverment organization which’s purpose is to “serve and protect” the citizens.

I called emergencies again and droped the “alert” making it very clear that no police assistance was recieved in the process of resolving the matter.

I can not believe such a thing. Not even in Mexico had I expected such story to take place.

I am, at least, relieved my brother got his IPhone Back.

What are your thoughts?

Drawing Through the Night

Lonely Awakening by ~Le-Narcissique on deviantART

Last night I got bored with work and decided to take a break and draw a little (something I had not done for weeks). I stayed up until 1:00am drawing this.

This is what came out. Not all that good, I know. But I still like somthing about it.

The thumbnail above is hosted at Deviant Art, an artist’s comunity with lots of great aplications and millions of pieces of art to watch and buy.

I’ll talkabout Deviant Art in another post.

You can watch my galery here.

For now, tell me: Have you ever stayed up late doing something you love?

(Yes, Sex is a valid answer… but a really obvious one)

Some more Musical Delight

Once again, It’s great to be back here.

On to busyness:

There’s a web service called Grooveshark which some of you may or may not know. Truth is it’s been out there for quite a while and I, personally, use it quite a lot.

This service allows yoou to listen basically any music you want for free and have the option of downloading it for $0.99.

The interesting thing with this service is you can upload all of you music library and get credits avery time someone listens to a file you uploaded. Said credits can, in turn, be spent to buy music.

What I really like about this service is that you can find pretty much anything you want and listen to it online.

But mayby you’re thinking “why is it that you’re just telling us about it if you’ve been using it for so long?”

Well, it is just because they hace just recently made it posible to embed little players with custom playlists.

This new feature, in my opinion, gives the aplication a really great plus.

Here’s a little example of this widgets:

Some Time at the Place of Power

First of all, I’d like to extend an apology to my readers for not being able to update in such a long period of time.

Truth is, I haven’t had Wi-Fi connection at my place for almost two weeks; which makes it difficult for me to keep in touch with the blog and what not.

Enough of that, let’s talk about something else.

I am standing, right now, at the state’s congress building. (Congreso del Estado de Jalisco). I was invited by the principal of my university to take some HD Video of a congress meeting due this afternoon.

Standing here, watching all the politicians who’s job is supposed to be watching out for us; Over hearing some conversations, I realize; ironically enough; not to my surprise, that this people is just as frivolous and uncaring as anybody else… if not even more.

This is the awful truth of the government, not only here where I stand. Not only at this awful country people call Mexico.

It is something of universal presence.

And why would they care. They are no more than humans after all, now, are they?

But this people is supposed to be and think different, they are supposed to care and manage to fix people’s problems.

Being here, really, has made me a little sick to my stomach. This is the place where, people perfectly knowing, politicians approve undeserved increments to their salaries. This is the place where politicians make laws that take away our liberties and make our lives pray to the big enterprises.

This is somewhere I would rather not be. And still, I am here for a reason. Not only for the job that was commended to me. But because being here, I know, will make me think more of these issues.

It’ll open my eyes to those parts of society and government I (and we as a peoples) should be criticising and changing for good.

Being here makes me feel enraged and full of thoughts of rebellion and social action. Let information be our weapon and wisdom our guiding light.

Let us take back this world, for it belongs not to this people in suits and with thoughts of personal enrichment in spare of what people needs.

This world belongs to all of us and all of us are to be taken accountable for what happens to this world while we do nothing about it.

Give me a world where government works for it’s country and not for the few who stand a a posicion of power. Or even better, let us create such a world.

Good to be back.

The plesure of Rising Awareness – Blog Action Day

Have you ever felt it?

I’m talking about that feeling… that feeling when you realize there’s something you can do that will change, if just a little, the way things are.

There’s people who may have never felt this, though… People hunted by the demon of poverty. That poverty that consumes the soul and body. That poverty that takes all hope and turns it into desperation.

People who have not to worry what they will eat tomorrow… but to have to worry if they will eat at all.

This people can not feel how it feels to know you can change the world… but rather would like the world to change.

What are we waiting for? The call is there and it is up to us to answer. It feels great to know you have done something of meaning. Something someone will be thankful for.

Today, Blog Action Day, is the day to allow yourself to feel that.

Today, you can make a difference by doing one really simple thing:

Rise Someones Awareness!

It is easy to forget there’s people who’s luck has not been as good as ours. But we can always do something.

Set the Example!

Make a donation, give away clothes you don’t wear anymore, go make some community work.

Make People Understand the Importance of Giving!

And the easiest way to do so is by giving something yourself.

Find the plesure of rising someone’s awareness about poverty. Do brag about it, you should feel proud of yourself for:

There is nothing more plesureable… more enjoyable… than to give, and give hard.

And that, my dear readers, is a plesure a real hedonist would crave.

How will you rise someone’s awareness today?
